Our Community Partnerships
BackAs we come to the end of term, it seems a very good opportunity to thank all of our community partners for their continued support throughout this academic year. Together, we have been able to give our children lots of opportunities to express themselves away from the demands of the national curriculum. The experiences they have enjoyed will hopefully stay with them for a long time. And the best bit? We are only just getting started with our community friends!
Dee Caf
The links we’ve been able to create with this fabulous café have been invaluable. Tina and her team are great friends to our school and we’ve been able to help her with a varied array of projects. These have included packaging up food boxes and parcels for the community fridge, learning how to make some of the best selling food in the café, celebrating and working with local artists and creating our own pieces of art work that are now up on display for our whole community to see!
Reading FC Community trust
This was a new link for us this year. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Harinder, Phil and Chris, with the year starting with a large donation of old kit which we were able to give out to award winners at school. They have also helped us to continue to deliver fantastic PE sessions, run extra after-school clubs and support us with sports and technical equipment. We are very grateful to them for their support and we are excited about what the future holds for our partnership next year.
The Inside Out
One of our oldest partners, they have helped us with delivering fantastic resources as part of our PSHE curriculum, providing our parents with free resources. On top of that, they will sharing their new ideas with our staff this coming September to further help us improve our pupils’ wellbeing and understanding of their own mental health.
The lovely people that have provided our children with bagels every morning will be back next year! This has been a great success for our pupils who have also learnt how to use a microwave in some cases! We know that the charity was inundated with requests to work with schools at the start of the year and thanks to the hard work of Miss Sanghera, we were able to secure our partnership with them.
Reading School
Their outreach programme has really benefitted our children this year. From online tutoring to canoeing sessions to cricket with trained coaches, the offer that Reading School have provided us with has been brilliantly varied. We will continue to work with them next year and the aim is to develop the programme to include younger year groups moving forward. There are lots of opportunities to consider with Reading School but the main thing is to develop aspirations and enjoyment of extra curriculum activities in our pupils.
School Online
This is another partnership that has been really cemented this past academic year. The team have provided our older pupils with an excellent platform to revise with leading up to SATS. Having used the platform since September with our current cohort, the progress they made and the enjoyment they got from it was the main reason we partnered with School Online in the first place. What’s more, the Year 6s next year will also use the platform, meaning they have access to high quality, teacher-led materials both in school during ICT sessions but also at home, as their specific login can be used to sign in at home too.
This year has been one of growth for our school and the community links involved. We are eager to get going next year and continue to develop our existing partnerships, but also engage with new groups and organisations that can benefit our school. As always, if you have any ideas or suggestions of people we could work with to help benefit our pupils, let me know.
