Highlights from Reception
BackThis term the children have been learning about the jungle. We have read some interesting stories about jungle animals such as Handa’s Surprise, The Tiger Who Came to Tea and Monkey Puzzle. The children have been extending their vocabulary by describing the fruits from Handa’s Surprise.
- “I like the soft yellow banana” said Balaj.
- “I like the red ripe mango, its sweet and delicious,” said Diya.
- “I want to try the tangy purple passion fruit” said Anaid.
- “I don’t like the creamy green avocado” said Assiyah.
We acted out the all the stories using puppets and props using our story shelf.
Furthermore, we looked at some non- fiction books and watched some You Tube videos about monkeys and tigers. We then did some writing about our chosen animal.
In maths, we have been learning about odd and even numbers, making 10, doubling and sharing equally. The children have worked extremely hard in their maths learning and have been completing some maths challenges. Have a look at some of our photos.
We had a fabulous time on our trip to Prospect Park Trains and the children thoroughly enjoyed the rides on the trains. We ended the trip by cooling ourselves down by playing the ‘Drip, Drip, Drop’ game.
In PSHE we have been talking about healthy bodies, dental hygiene and transitioning into Year 1.
Thank you to all our fantastic dads who joined their children to celebrate Father’s Day
