Highlights from Year 1
BackYear 1 have had a fabulous start to the new school year!
The children have adapted phenomenally form the expectations of Reception to the expectations of year 1.
In English we have been writing fact files about ourselves and about the author that our class is named after – Michal Rosen. The children have developed their skills in sentence writing.
In Maths we have been looking at the importance of numbers and how we use them every day. The children have explored the different ways to solve a number problem, as well as how to write as fact families.
Art: this term we have been learning about Pablo Picasso. We have found out lots of information about how he used to paint and how he was feeling effected the way that he painted. Through learning about Picasso, we have been creating self-portraits in his style. We have experimented with combining different mediums to create our final pieces.
We have also celebrated World Animal Day where we had a hoot learning about Owl’s, we created our own owl pictures. We have also celebrated World Metal Health Day where the children have tested different ways to be mindful, relax and offload.
