Spring Term Highlights from Year 5
Back
As we come to the end of the spring term, I wanted to share some of the wonderful experiences and achievements our class has enjoyed over the past few months.
Visit from the Fire Service
One of the highlights of this term was a visit from our local fire service. The firefighters provided an engaging and informative session on fire safety, showcasing their equipment and explaining their roles in the community. The children were particularly excited to explore the fire engine and try on the firefighter helmets. This visit not only educated the children about safety but also sparked their curiosity about the important work of our emergency services.
Parent Visiting a Maths Lesson
I was delighted to see so many parents and carers, join us for a special maths lesson. The lesson introduced the parents and carers to practical applications of mathematics, as well them watching a lesson on area and perimeter. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and were eager to share their newfound knowledge with their adult.
Swimming Lessons
Throughout the term, the children have been participating in weekly swimming lessons. These lessons are an essential part of our physical education programme, aimed at building water confidence and improving swimming skills. Mr. Stiff (our PE teacher) commented “It has been wonderful to see the children’s progress and their growing confidence in the water. “ Swimming is not only a crucial life skill but also a fantastic way to promote physical health and well-being.
In addition to these special events, the children have been working hard in all areas of the curriculum, showing great dedication and enthusiasm. Their progress and achievements this term have been impressive, and I am proud of each and every one of them.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child’s education. I wish you all a restful and enjoyable break, and I look forward to welcoming the children back for the summer term.
