Year 2 has had a very great term, from exciting projects and creative lessons to memorable moments with friends, the children have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and positivity.

Maths

In maths we have been learning about measuring lengths, volume and capacity. We practiced comparing weights with balance scales, used metre sticks to measure the length of the classroom and compared our heights!

Science

We’ve learnt all about plants this term. We learnt about the different parts of a plant and their functions. We also enjoyed being out in the sun and planting our own cress. We took careful care of them each day making sure they got plenty of water and sunlight to grow.

RE

In RE we learnt lots about Buddhism. We learnt about the Eightfold path and considered how right speech can help us be kinder in our every day lives. We were lucky enough to have a parent come in and teach us all about Buddhism.

Writing

In Writing we have practiced dictation and grammar skills such as finding common nouns and proper nouns, being verbs and adjectives. As well as writing simple sentences using our Phonics skills to write independent sentences from our class reader “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Book”.

Art

In Art we learnt all about Morandi and looked at his still life paintings. We practiced the skill of colour mixing colours with white, grey and black to create tint, tone and shade. Using everything we had learnt we created our own still life paintings.
