Autumn Term Highlights from Year 4
Back
This term I have really enjoyed teaching Year 4 full time. The children have worked extremely hard across all areas of learning including daily practice of times tables ready for the Multiplication test that they will be taking next year. They have already made so much progress in a short amount of time, they should be very proud of themselves.
In Reading, we have just finished reading ‘Why the Whales came’. As a class the children have really enjoyed exploring the text and they have just finished writing a book review. The children loved the book so much that they are reading it in their own personal reading time.
In Maths, we have covered a wide variety of topics from Area to Multiplication and division. We have worked hard to understand that division is an inverse operation of multiplication. Keep up the hard work year 4.
We have been planning and writing our own narrative this term with a mysterious ending. The Childrens imagination has really impressed me, and they have produced some detailed stories. We are learning to use dictionaries and thesauruses to upscale our writing and this really shows in their finally copy.
Year 4 had the best time exploring the local woods and taking part in cleaning up the environment. We collected a trolley load of litter and emailed the local council to collect it and dispose of it. Well done for getting stuck in and taking part in such a good deed.
Finally, I would like to thank all the parents, carers and children for your resilience in getting to school every day. As a result of our above average attendance week after week, the class have had a well-deserved reward afternoon for winning the highest attendance from Autumn 1. We celebrated with a pyjama party and Christmas movie. I will have to come up with more and more ideas on how we can celebrate for winning for the second time this term!
Have an amazing break over the Christmas holiday, relax and enjoy some time with your families.
