Autumn Term Highlights from Nursery

Autumn 1 has been an exciting time for our Nursery children. We started the year with the topic “All About Me.” The children learned about who they are, what they look like. They learned about their own family and where they live.
In Expressive Art & Design, the children were able to use their mark-making to create special family portraits using felt tip markers.
In Maths, the children learned about colours and sorting and matching objects. They went on a nature hunt in the Nursery Garden and found tons of rocks, pinecones, conkers, leaves, twigs and flowers and sorted them into groups.
In PHSE, the children listened to “The Colour Monster” and learned about recognizing their own feelings and how to respond appropriately to different emotions. They learned new routines and rules and understood that these are needed for everyone to feel safe and happy.
In Autumn 2, the topic was “Through my Eyes” where they read and discussed similarities and differences between each other.
We had a Halloween Stay & Play which was well attended by parents and carers, and the children had the opportunity to play with their parents in their learning environment.
The children have been learning all about the different ways in which they and their classmates celebrate events with their families. They have had the opportunity to learn about Diwali, Eid, Bonfire Night and Christmas!
