Highlights from Year 4

Easter Production

Our Easter Production was the highlight of our term! We were delighted to have so many parents supporting our children by coming to watch the play. Our children had an excellent time practicing, learning their lines and building self confidence in the process.

Maths

In Maths, we have been learning about shapes and perimeters, fractions and decimals. How to find informal fractions and how to change them back into mixed numbers, finding equivalent fractions and currently we are having a go at finding decimals by dividing them by tenths.

Writing

We have been looking at Poetry this term and all the language features needed to create a poem. Our focus poem was the sound collector and we had so much fun mimicking the sounds to create an interesting poem. Some of the language features that we looked at were onomatopoeia, alliteration and similes to write our poem. Our second text that we looked at was news reports and how to retrieve all the facts to write a good news report. We enjoyed our role play in front of the class and had some breaking news headlines! Science

We have really enjoyed “States of Matter” in Science this term. We investigated the different particles that can be found in solids, liquids and gasses. We conducted some great experiments on solids and investigated whether solids could melt in room temperature to change their state from solid to liquid and we made great predictions.
