Highlights from Year 1

In English we have been writing instructions and writing a description.

For instruction writing the children made a jam sandwich and then needed to think about the steps that they had used to write instructions so that other children would know how to make one!

For our description the children brought in a teddy from home that they would like to describe. We talked about what they look like, how they feel and what they smell like. The children did a fantastic job at coming up with different adjectives and have written some fantastic descriptions

In Science this term the children have learnt about the seasons and how they change. We have looked at the weather and how that you need to wear different clothes to stay warm in the winter and how to stay cool in the summer. We also learnt about how birds adapt to the different seasons.

Rosen class have started to learn Spanish. The children found this very exciting. The children have learnt a number of colours and the days of the week. We have tried to use these during our day.

In Art, Year 1 have become experts on the artist Kandinsky, the children have learnt about his style. The children have explored colour mixing and have created some fantastic pieces of art.
