Highlights from Nursery
BackThis term we have been reading stories like 'The Enormous Turnip', 'Newton and Me', and 'Oscar and the Cricket', to help us understand the world around us. We have been observing different kinds of forces, like pushing and pulling. We have learned new vocabulary that helps us describe what is happening when an object moves because of an external force. We have conducted activities like pushing and pulling cars down ramps and over different types of surfaces. We have rolled balls over smooth paths and bumpy grass and down grassy knolls, and into a fence and talked about what we saw: how a ball would roll faster on a smooth surface and how a ball would bounce off a fence and change its direction. We have played tug-o-war with one another to experience how our bodies feel when we are being pulled and made pinch pots to experience the many ways that we can push clay to create with materials.
In Maths, we have been learning about numbers, how to count, find and represent numbers through different activities like linking a numeral to a set of objects, and using 5 Frames to count objects and then record the amount using our own unique marks or numerals.
In PHSE, we have been talking about dreams and goals and being the best version of ourselves and setting personal goals that we would like to achieve.
