26 October 2020
Year 2 have been busy bees during October and have been working hard in all curriculum areas. We have been celebrating our fantastic attendance with hot chocolate and a non-uniform day.
We have been reading and learning all about different traditional tales. We have been exploring the story mountain and have been thinking about our good and bad characters. We have also learnt how to use adjectives and adverbs to make our writing more interesting. To finish our unit, we have written our own traditional tale using Little Red Riding Hood as our example.
Some of our children have been joining Mrs Barnett three times a week to help boost their phonics. All the children that attend are making good progress and we are starting to see them use the new graphemes they are learning in their writing. We will be running these again next half term on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If you wish for your child to be added to this group please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
World Mental Health Day
On the 9th October, we had a super day dressed in yellow to raise awareness for mental health. We learnt how important it is to keep our body and our mind healthy and in PSHE we thought about some ways to help us feel better if we feel sad. Some ideas we came up with include reading, relaxing, calming colouring, exercising, playing with friends and, one of my favourites, having a cuddle with mummy and daddy. We discussed the importance of making sure we talk to people if we don’t feel good and that we can help people by simply asking if they are ok.
If you have any questions or queries about your child’s learning please don’t hesitate of email email@example.com.
