Reception have had great fun learning about 'Traditional and Modern Tales'.
Goldilocks was a cheeky little girl when she sneaked into the bears' house. The children thought carefully about how we must not enter a stranger’s house and how this is unsafe; nevertheless, the children all agreed that it must have been the sweet-smelling porridge that she just couldn’t resist! We all tasted porridge with various toppings, the children said it was 'thick... gooey... sweet... fruity... delicious and lumpy'.
We have had great fun making potions in the mud kitchen while exploring the story 'Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson.
The children have been busy talking about who they will take on their broomstick and writing sentences about this. We were amazed to see the ‘truly magnificent broom’ from the story, so we decided to create our own.
We have learned some wonderful vocabulary from this story and did actions to help us remember the meaning. We have used lots of story props to act out the story and we all know who the villain of the story is.
We have also worked extremely hard at matching numbers with the correct quantity. Now we are working on ordering our numbers 1-20 and beyond!
