As part of our writing topic the children in Year 2 had a visit from a very special guest who left a note for them. They came into school to find a half-eaten mince pie, some suspicious foot prints and a munched carrot. There was also a letter from the big man himself! The children then used this stimulus to create a newspaper article about the events that had unfolded.
Earlier in the term, Year 2 wrote a short story based around their topic “Bounce”. On Monday morning, they were greeted by a mass of balls and a classroom in disarray! The children had to investigate what had happened and used this to write a short story including some key facts they had discovered.
To raise funds for the costumes in our production, the Key Stage 1 staff held a fund raising movie night after school. The children put on their onesies, had some popcorn and hot chocolate and settled down for a showing of Toy Story 4! The event was a huge success and the money raised has already gone to good use which benefits the children!
In Maths, Year 2 have been studying fractions. A tricky concept on its own, but it was brought to life by the adults as they used biscuits left by Santa to understand halves and quarters! They also learnt a bit of subtraction when Mr Bond ate some with his coffee!
At this time of year, Key Stage 1 children have been showing off their acting prowess with dazzling performances of their Christmas nativity. They performed amazingly with some fantastic singing and confident acting. Their costumes really completed the show and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for practicing the songs and bringing in the fantastic costumes. Some real budding stars and divas for the future!
