5 December 2019
Reception have been engaged in learning about Guy Fawkes, Remembrance Day, Children in Need and being kind to each other. The children have decorated poppies, made firework pictures and wrote about the meaning of Remembrance Day. We have also enjoyed dressing up in our sports clothes for Children in Need Day.
Children have been developing their listening and speaking skills, whilst we have been learning the story Whatever Next by Jill Murphy. We have been answering how and why questions about the story. The story map has helped us to retell it.
In Maths, we have been learning about 3D shapes and listening to Maths stories to add numbers together.
Well done to all the families who have been adding observations to Tapestry.
Reception Phonics Workshop
A big thank you to all the parents who attended the phonics workshop. We were so pleased to see so many of our parents. The workshop was aimed at helping parents to understand how phonics is taught in school and how parents can help their child at home. Furthermore, examples of writing were shared to show what children are expected to achieve at the end of Reception.
Thank you for all the positive feedback we have received from this.
