What an exciting and busy term Year 1 have had!
This term our topic has been superheroes. The children have loved sharing their knowledge of superheroes and this has allowed for some super learning, such as writing our own comic strips, designing and making our own superhero masks and costumes and making our own supertatos.
Year 1 even took part in a superhero day, where all children and staff dressed up as their favourite superhero. The day’s activities included a super assault course and starring in our own superhero movie scenes. We even had some flying lessons!
In maths we have been looking at fractions, including halves and quarters. Herbies Pizza restaurant in Tilehurst kindly donated pizza boxes so everyone could design and make their own pizzas including their favourite toppings, some of us were fussier than others!
In science this term, Year 1 have been exploring the human body, focusing on the skeleton. To help them visualise the human skeleton, we made our own out of bone biscuits.
We would also like to thank all the parents and careers who came to watch Years 1’s sharing assembly. The Children did a fantastic job at sharing their work from this term and it was so lovely to see so many people in the audience!
