Forming part of the regeneration of the Dee Park Estate, Reading Borough Council, in partnership with Ranikhet School, REAch2 Academy Trust and Hampshire County Council, are pleased to present initial proposals for the redevelopment of Ranikhet Academy Primary School.
It is proposed to replace the existing school buildings with a new purpose built school (a two form entry for 420 pupils) and with a 26 place nursery.

The existing school site is constrained by its existing features and changes in level and redevelopment options are limited. The design has been developed to ensure school activities, including the Children’s Centre, are able to continue during the first phase of the build. The existing Synthetic Turf Pitch is retained to provide the existing one form entry school with suitable games and play area. Development is therefore proposed to the central area of the site on the existing Multi Use Games Area. Once completed the school will decant into the new building, with the Children’s Centre moving elsewhere. This will then allow demolition of the old school buildings and completion of the external works in Phase 2 of construction, which will include a new replacement MUGA and car park.
This site layout, with a new enhanced entrance opposite Spey Road, provides a great opportunity for the school to develop a new stronger identity, and become a real focus for the wider community with improved access and facilities.
The scheme is currently being developed with the ambition to submit a planning application in early 2021.
